Welcome to Social Work 644

Social Work 644: Issues in Developmental Disabilities is a 2-3 credit distance education course that uses pre-produced lectures, printed materials, Internet web resources and telephone office hours for undergraduate and graduate level instruction. Typically presented over a fifteen week semester period, the course examines the complex field of mental retardation and other developmental disabilities with a focus on definition, incidence, etiology, assessment, prevention & intervention from a life cycle perspective. This course has been developed primarily for undergraduates and graduate students with minimal or no previous academic work or employment experience in the area of Developmental Disabilities.

Course Readings: This course does have a variety of both required and supplemental course readings.  These are available online to registered students and auditors of the course through https://learnuw.wisc.edu/ and are updated each semester.  Because these readings are all available online, it is not necessary to purchase a text or reader for the course.
