Fall Semester 2009

Hello Fall Semester 2009 students. Welcome to SW 644, Issues In Developmental Disabilities.   This is an early note to inform you that there will be a required course meeting/orientation session to be held on Thursday, Sept 3, 2009.  There will be two scheduled meetings on that day one from 3:15-4:45 (Session # 1) or 5:30-6:45 PM (Session 2).   You need to attend one of these meetings to be held on campus at the BioTech Bldg computer lab room on Henry Mall.

I will be sending out an email by 8/24/2009 with more detailed information. And I will ask that you sign up for one of these sessions.  I hope you have had a good summer.

Thank you, Don Anderson

MEMO

Dear Students,

I'd like to welcome you to the course.  I hope you’ve had a pleasant and enjoyable summer.

Please note below that we'll be holding two orientation/information sessions during the first week of the semester. Attendance at one of these is important and will comprise 10 out of 360 total course points.

During the orientations, we will discuss the format of the course, assignments, grading procedures, and electronic readings, how to view lectures via the Internet, and how to use the Learn@UW features.

These sessions will be held on the date and times to follow at the Genetics / Biotechnology Center, Room 1240.  The Genetics/Biotechnology Center is located at 425 Henry Mall (corner of Henry Mall and University Avenue).  Room 1240 is located on the first floor of the building.  Sessions and their content will be identical so you need only attend one of the following:

Orientation Session 1:

Thursday, September 3, 2009, 3:30-4:45pm

(Location: Room 1240 Genetics/Biotechnology Center)

Orientation Session 2:

Thursday, September 3, 2009, 5:30-6:45pm

(Location: Room 1240 Genetics/Biotechnology Center)

Course Website Address:  www.iidd.wisc.eduPlease email me… djander1@wisc.edu with time you would like to attend.  Please let me know if you're unable to attend one of the sessions so that we can make alternative arrangements for another time to do the orientation.

FYI,   there is no book required for this course. However, there will be a series of weekly readings, in addition to course lectures/discussions, that you are expected to read.  The course electronic Reader and final syllabus will be made available along with primary instructional information via our course Learn@UW website on or prior to Sept 1, 2009.  The syllabus further details the readings and structure of the course.  This will also be explained at orientation.

I look forward to meeting you.

Sincerely,

Don Anderson
